Pastor

Chili Crossroads Bible Church in Fresno, Ohio is seeking a pastor.

Founded in 1952, the Chili Crossroads Bible Church is rural, independent, fundamental, Bible-believing church. Our greatest desire at Chili Crossroads Bible Church is to be a church that walks with the insight of faith in close intimate fellowship with our Lord, available for God to use us however He wants. We have been praying for and seeking a senior pastor who preaches expositorally, who has a Holy Spirit-produced ministry, walks closely with the Lord, and loves and leads with genuine, unconditional grace love.

The past few years have been a time in which God has stretched and tested the believers at Chili. In January of 2006, a core group of believers began meeting before our Sunday evening service to pray specifically for the spiritual welfare of the church, for God’s direction for the church and for a full-time senior pastor. When on May 4, 2006, a main support beam in our 135-year-old church building collapsed, resulting in the building’s total destruction, the congregation at Chili moved into a new phase of our faith walk. As our old church was built on a small plot of land that did not allow for expansion, the congregation began praying that God would provide land nearby on which a new, larger church could be built. The Board of Directors approached five different landowners in the area with the proposal of purchasing land and were summarily turned down. One of the landowners was an Amish gentleman who owned land directly across the road from our old church. Disappointed but not discouraged, the congregation began praying that God would move in the heart of the man who owned the land where God wanted His church to be built.

Two days after the tragic Amish school shooting in Pennsylvania, the president of our church Board was summoned by the Amish gentleman who stated that the shooting had so upset him that he couldn’t sleep and, in the night, decided that he would sell some of his land to the church. The peace he had upon making this decision was affirmed by his Amish neighbors who had been hoping that he would sell land to our church.

The church Board then made the commitment to build a new church by faith without incurring debt. God provided in miraculous ways! Today we are worshipping in a brand new church that is paid for! In reviewing God’s awesome provision over the last couple of years, we realized that though we took on a major expense, never was there a time when a bill, the interim pastor’s salary, or a monthly missionary support (the church supports sixteen missionaries) could not be paid. May God have all the glory!

Many people at Chili sense that in the last few years God has not only been preparing us to carry out the work He has for us, but has been getting us ready for a new pastor. Right now, our ministries include Sunday morning and Sunday evening services, Sunday School, Wednesday evening prayer meeting, and a radio ministry. Though we are a church characterized by unconditional love, we’re praying for a pastor who can teach the men of the church to be Biblical leaders, help us to become more evangelistic, and teach us how to disciple new believers.

At the Chili Crossroads Bible Church, we’re excited about the future God has for us. We are praying that God will lay it upon the heart of the man that He chooses to come be our pastor. Whoever that man is, we have been praying for him and for his own spiritual walk with the Lord.

Job Description:

Pastor’s Spiritual Walk

Because the desire at Chili Crossroads Bible Church is for a Holy Spirit-produced ministry, the pastor’s own spiritual walk with God is of paramount importance. It is important to us that our pastor, above all else, spend time alone with God in prayer and in the Word, walk in obedience to the Word, and be able to think with the mind of Christ. In other words, our expectation is that our pastor live a Spirit produced life. Our people respond and follow a man they know loves them, is walking closely with the Lord, and leads them from God’s Word. It is our desire that our pastor preach expostiorally from God’s Word.

Ministry Intern

Dear seminary (or college) students. While you are preparing for ministry at Grace Seminary, have you considered a part-time, hands-on ministry in a local church? We are located one hour from Grace College and Seminary; a reasonable driving distance. We can offer you a nice, stately, two story, three bedroom parsonage next to our church with all utilities paid. Fair market rental value of parsonage + utilities is around a $13,000 value, plus we would pay an additional amount. The exact amount would be negotiable. We might be willing to include medical benefits as well for your family.

We need help developing our youth ministry (children and teens). That would be the ministry area of responsibility. We have a full Sunday school program, an AWANA ministry, a Word of Life club ministry for our junior high young people, and what we call RUSH ministry for senior high teens. We would ask you to live in our parsonage and serve on a part-time basis at the church and then allow you to travel to Winona Lake to take your classes as you prepare academically for ministry. I would allow you to have pulpit experience too and well as experience in other aspects of pastoral ministry (communion, baptisms, visitation, etc.).

If you are interested, please contact me and we can talk further about how we might be able to help one another in ministry. My church phone is 574-294-1131; my cell is 574-215-6156; my e-mail is pastorray@maplenet.net.

Our church is a small, non-denominational, rural community church located south of Indianapolis, three miles east of Franklin, Indiana, in one of the fastest growing counties in the state. The church was founded in 1931 by the people of our community and has operated continuously since then, independent of any denominational ties. While the church has a very diversified congregation, its roots are in the farming community and it has a rural flavor. Currently, the attendance for Sunday School and Worship Service is small, however there is good potential for church growth.

Our physical facilities include the church building itself, parsonage, and fellowship hall. The church is a modest white frame structure. It consists of the sanctuary, a basement, and a four room educational wing. The parsonage is a five year old, three bedroom, two full bath, brick home, adjacent to the church. It has a fully equipped kitchen (all appliances included), gas furnace, central air-conditioning, office, very large family room, dining room, and two car attached garage. There is easy access to the Interstate from the church. The church address is 5117 E. Greensburg Rd, Franklin, IN 46131.

As part of the compensation for a minister's service the church's past policy has been to provide the parsonage, with all utilities paid. The church will also reimburse church related automobile expenses. The church contributes to the minister's medical insurance and retirement fund.

We welcome all interested applicants, who provide a statement of faith and resume.
